Steelers’ Ryan Shazier has been discharged from rehabilitation institute

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Injured Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was released from a rehabilitation hospital Thursday.

UPMC Rehabilitation Institute at UPMC Mercy announced the news on its Twitter account.

"Ryan Shazier was discharged from the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute at UPMC Mercy today and will transition into an outpatient therapy program through UPMC Centers for Rehab Services," the statement said.

Shazier suffered a serious spinal injury on Dec. 4 in Cincinnati and later had spinal stabilization surgery.

There have been very few condition updates available on Shazier since he was injured.

Shazier posted several photos on Instagram after the rehab hospital’s announcement.
