H.S. Roundup: Punxsy, Philipsburg-Osceola softball headed to PIAA title games

On the softball diamond four area teams had a chance to book trips to the PIAA championships Monday.

Punxsutawney defeated Mt. Pleasant 3-1 behind a heroic effort from Kylee Lingenfelter. She homered to open the scoring, and went the distance for the win in the circle as the Chucks will play for the 4A title.

Philipsburg-Osceola blew the Class A semi final open late, defeating Southmoreland 15-4.

In Class 2A Mount Union fell to Mohawk 3-1, and in Class 1A it was Williams Valley defeating Claysburg-Kimmel 6-1.

On the baseball diamond, Southern Fulton booked a trip to the Class 1A baseball title game with an 11-0 shutout of Sayre.
