Police: Philipsburg man jailed after slapping woman, throwing her to ground

PHILIPSBURG – A Centre County man is in jail, accused of punching and slapping a 19-year-old woman and then throwing her to the ground, state police said Monday.

According to a police complaint, James Williams, 27, of Philipsburg faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment as a result of a domestic incident at 11 a.m. Saturday at a house on Pine Street.

Police said Williams also threatened the victim.

Williams was arraigned and taken to Centre County Correctional Facility, where bail was set at $10,000.
