Wounded Warriors to host veteran's annual hunt
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) —
Wounded Warriors will be hosting their annual pheasant hunt Saturday.
It’s a chance for veterans to get together to enjoy hunting and share stories with each other.
Organizers said the event continues to grow every year after it started with four wounded warriors several years ago.
This year, organizers said 20 veterans will participate.
“We won’t talk about bad times,” coordinator Robert Sembower said. “This will be an opportunity for them to just enjoy the day and relax and again, they are with their peers so there’s a bond. They’re a band of brothers.”
Volunteers will be giving their time to guide the hunt, prepare food and more.
The Wounded Warriors project was started as therapeutic recreation for military members suffering from physical and mental illnesses or injuries.
