Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky's son arrested on sex charges

BELLEFONTE -- The son of former Penn State assistant football coach and convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky is now behind bars himself, facing similar charges.

Jeffrey Sandusky was arrested Monday afternoon in Centre County by state police and charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and photographing, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts.

State police said they were notified in November by the father of a teenage girl who said his daughter had received inappropriate text messages from Sandusky back in March,

Police said Sandusky told the girl, named victim #1, not to show the text messages to anyone else, and further advised the girl to erase the alleged messages and that none of his “s---” gets mentioned to anyone or seen by anyone. According to court documents, the girl replied, “No, we don’t need to talk and we aren’t going to. You did what you did and I’m not going to give you a chance to try and justify it. You literally tried to guilt me into doing it and you even told me specifically what I ‘needed' to do. You know who does that? Rapists and abusers, not (redacted) who care about their (redacted.) I don’t know how many times I need to tell you no and to stop before you get it.”

State police said they first interviewed the girls’ mother, who documents say became emotional while reading the alleged text messages sent between her daughter and Jeffrey Sandusky. Police said the woman told them she had confronted Sandusky herself when learning of the allegations and that Sandusky told her he was sorry and didn’t remember what he said, before opening up and admitting that he knew it was wrong and inappropriate.

State police said when interviewing the victim, she told them Sandusky pressured her multiple times to not show the text messages to anyone else despite her feeling uncomfortable. Police said the girl also told them Sandusky had made sexual comments before and that “he is always looking at me in weird ways, starring me up and down.”

Court documents go on to say that another victim, titled "victim #2," told police that Sandusky sent texts in March and in the years before that made her upset. Most of those messages are redacted from court documents filed Monday.

Sandusky was arraigned Monday afternoon and placed in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail. The judge prohibited him from having contact with the alleged victims or anyone under the age of 18. Sandusky must also turn in his passport and is not allowed to move from his current address.

Jeffrey Sandusky’s father, Jerry, was arrested in November of 2011 and brought to trial in June 2012 where he was found guilty on 45 counts of various sexual abuse crimes. Police said he abused 10 boys over a 15-year period. He’s currently serving a 30- to 60-year sentence in Greene state prison amid several appeals.
