Ward cruises to primary win for Eichelberger's state Senate seat
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - State Rep. Judy Ward cruised to a victory in the Republican primary to win the nomination for the 30th Senatorial District, previously held by John Eichelberger.
Ward defeated Blair County attorney Dan Kiss, receiving more than 70 percent of the vote.
"It feels great. We've worked really hard (and) we've covered a lot of ground and it's just a great feeling to have such a decisive win." Ward, who comes from a nursing background, was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2014.
The Hollidaysburg native will face Democratic challenger Emily Best in November.
The winner will replace state Sen. John Eichelberger, who ran in the 13th Congressional District after Bill Shuster decided not to seek re-election in January for the U.S. House.
