University Park Airport receives grant to aid in growing services
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- University Park Airport is continuing to grow and received a $2.2 million state grant for expansion Wednesday.
The funding will go toward constructing a better access road to the airport and to increase parking options at the facility.
The airport is the sixth-largest in the state and sees close to 140,000 travelers a year.
“According to a 2011 PennDOT study, University Park Airport has an economic impact of $200 million," said airport manager Bryan Rodgers.
That number could go up as the airport is expanding services to both Chicago and Washington, D.C., in the near future.
