A student and an aide from the DuBois Area School District were seriously injured in the crash of a school van on Bennetts Valley Highway Monday.

Police say the driver, 31-year-old Chantel Eliason, crashed the van into a tree.

Eliason's passengers were 66-year-old Linda Hallowell, an aide for students with special needs, and a 12-year-old student of Soaring Heights School.

Officials say everyone is in stable condition.

State police say they're still conducting interviews and waiting on test results of the mechanical parts of the van to figure out what happened.

Student council will be using the 12th annual Ben Friedl Memorial Basketball Game to help the victims.

The students versus teachers game is played in memory of a DuBois math teacher killed in a car crash in 2008.

Students are asking the community to pack the gym and donate gift baskets for a Chinese auction.
