Superintendent: Police investigate after airsoft gun brought onto school grounds
BELLWOOD - State police are investigating after a student brought an airsoft gun onto school grounds in the Bellwood-Antis School District Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Tom McInroy.
According to McInroy, the district sent out a notification to parents Tuesday morning about the incident.
McInroy said a high school student had brought an airsoft gun in his book bag on a bus and a second student took a picture of it and posted it to social media.
State police became aware of the incident Monday night and began to investigate.
McInroy said the district is fully cooperating with police and has implemented policies and procedures that they have in place for such situations.
He said this was an isolated incident and the safety of students and staff was not in jeopardy.
McInroy said the district takes these matters very seriously and is urging parents to take this matter as a chance to talk to their children about what are appropriate items to bring to school.
