Stoystown woman charged for fatal overdose
STOYSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) —
A Stoystown woman faces charges after police said she sold drugs to a woman that killed her in August.
Police said Beth Shomody, 35, sold two stamp bags of heroin to a 38-year-old woman who later overdosed on the drugs.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim’s mother reached out to police after her daughter would not answer her phone.
When the mother sent her husband to check on her daughter, police said the victim was found dead in the bathroom with two stamp bags next to her marked “HBO” in green letters.
Police said the mother told them she saw Shomody with her daughter while they were shopping at Dollar General, just a few days after her daughter was released from prison.
According to the complaint, surveillance video from the Dollar General showed Shomody and the woman exchange something in one of the aisles.
Police said Shomody told them the victim reached out to her on Facebook looking to buy the drugs.
Shomody said she sold the victim the drugs in exchange for $30 and two Klonopins, the complaint said.
