Stadium used for realistic active shooter defense training
ALTOONA -- The Altoona Curve, along with other organizations, hosted an active shooter community training Thursday at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Blair County.
About 150 people were in attendance.
The training consisted of several tips and re-enactments showing an active shooting in progress.
The purpose of the event was to train businesses, their employees and the public on what to do if they are ever in an active shooter situation.
"If you put on a realistic training, that people can hear, see, feel, they leave here with a realistic opportunity to survive,” said Bubba Fatula, trainer with Gittings Protective Security. “Unlike sitting somewhere and trying to show them a video, or do a course online, we want to keep it as realistic as possible because we know if you train your brain to tell your body what to do, that's what will happen at that time."
This is the second training session the curve management has hosted this year.
