A team of real estate investors dodged a bullet after coming across a booby-trapped staircase in a southwest Philadelphia home.

Ekrem Uysaler and his team told NBC they were checking out a house on Jan. 2 when one of the members found a small line coming across a staircase that was covered in glass shards.

NBC said as the head construction manager began walking up the stairs, the men stopped him. After spotting a piece of string on the ground, they found a pole in the house and began filming, NBC reports.

The video shows the men using the pole to pull the string only to be met with a fast-moving, downward swinging crutch. Attached to the crutch, was a large knife pointing right to where a person's head would have been, as seen in the video.

While Usayler tells NBC it's not unusual to find surprising, sometimes dangerous things in their line of work, like drug stashes or abandoned animals, this booby-trapped staircase took it to the next level.
