PennDOT holds event to deter DUI ahead of St. Patrick's Day
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) —
This weekend is St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday commonly associated with drinking.
Wednesday, PennDOT and Penn Highlands Healthcare hosted a mocktail party to deter driving under the influence.
Those in attendance got to test out the impaired driving simulator and impairment goggles.
The goggles allow sober people to experience what it's like to navigate basic tasks after drinking, such as puzzles or writing your name.
Attendees also enjoyed a non-alcoholic drink to encourage safe-celebrating this holiday.
PennDOT also encourages you to download the SafeRide app on your smartphone.
You can use it to call a taxi or friend by sharing your location.
