Overnight blaze kills thousands of turkeys
MILES TWP, Pa. (WJAC) —
More than 5,000 turkeys were killed in an overnight barn fire in Centre County, officials said.
Miles Township Fire Chief Eric Miller said the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Miller said a malfunctioning heater started the fire.
He said 5,400 turkeys were killed in the blaze and the barn was a total loss.
It took fire crews about three hours to put out the fire, Miller said.
No injuries were reported.
