New technology available for breast cancer patients
Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is now offering new technology for breast cancer patients.
It's a wire-free localization system that uses radar technology to mark the area in the breast that needs to be removed surgically.
This will allow for precise removal of the tumor.
The new device is about the size of a grain of rice.
Doctors say it's so small, patients don't even know it’s there, which can help relieve some stress for the patient.
Doctor. Renee Arlow says by using this technology, they're providing a better patient experience, becoming more accurate with removal of breast tumors and helping to reduce scarring.
