Motorist saves baby, mom from attack by family dog on street
PERKASIE, Pa. (WJAC) —
Police in Pennsylvania say a motorist saw a family dog attacking a 13-month-old baby and her mother on a residential street and interrupted the attack, likely saving the child.
The Perkasie Borough Police Department says officers were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the toddler with serious bite wounds all over her body, and her mother with bite marks on her hands, arms and legs.
A female neighbor heard screams and tried to help but couldn't get the dog off the mother and child.
That's when the motorist pulled over and stopped the attack. He suffered a serious leg injury after falling in the ice and snow while struggling with the dog.
Police are calling him a hero.
The baby is in critical condition at a hospital.
The breed of dog hasn't been released.
