State police are investigating the death of a man found shot to death outside his SUV along I-81 in Dauphin County.

Police said 46-year-old Tyrone Shaw was found outside his black GMC Yukon near mile marker 75.4 late Monday night. The Dauphin County coroner said Shaw died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities noticed the SUV along the side of the road with its lights and hazard lights activated just after 11 p.m. That's when authorities said they found Shaw.

I-81 north was closed for over five hours while police investigated. Police said an initial investigation suggested a road rage incident occurred involving multiple passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer.

Police later said there was no road rage incident and that the incident was isolated with no threat to the public.

State police are working with the Dauphin County coroner and district attorney's offices.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call state police in Harrisburg at 717-671-7500.
