In a time of loss, there is a sense of community.

Locally and statewide, people are showing their support for Pennsylvania State Trooper Landon Weaver and the Weaver family.

One restaurant is looking to help his family this weekend.

Hoss's is a community-oriented restaurant chain with locations all across the state.

On Saturday, Hoss's will be donating 25 percent of its proceeds to Landon Weaver's family. With a voucher, customers can have their check be a part of the donation.

Manager Jennifer Estep says their restaurant in State College has seen a huge sense of community develop after this tragedy.

"We just like to give back. You know, he was not only a local hero, but a Pennsylvania hero, definitely gone too soon." Estep said. "People are just reaching out, picking up people's checks and just in general talking about him and keeping his memory alive."

She also said it has been heartwarming seeing people come together for their fallen hero and the police.

"We have seen state troopers who are traveling to and from the funeral on both Wednesday and Thursday coming in to eat," Estep said. "Just seeing our patrons in the restaurant show respect and admiration for those police officers, you feel that sense of community."

Hoss's district manager Tami Chadick said the chain wanted to run the voucher program statewide, but with short notice for food supplies, they will be doing the 25 percent donation at the following locations only on Saturday:

  • Altoona
  • Bedford
  • Duncansville
  • Huntingdon
  • Lewistown
  • State College

Although there are only six locations that will be doing this, Chadick said they are expecting a lot of customers to come in.

"I think everyone is looking for a way to get involved and help show their support in any way that they can," Chadick said. "It's just amazing how people have come together to support them. I'm just thankful that we get to be a part of this."

Along with donations, Hoss's has also set up a memorial table in honor of Trooper Weaver.

"State troopers come in and you see them looking at the table and they are in awe of it," Estep said of their display. "We set it up for him and in honor of our fallen hero."

In addition to the six locations at which patrons can donate a portion of their checks, all Hoss's restaurants will be accepting monetary donations for the Weaver family until Sunday night.

They will then turn in all donations on Monday morning. To have 25 percent of your check go to Landon Weaver's family, present the voucher #54588 to your server.
