Gov. Wolf plans to veto abortion bill
HARRISBURG - Gov. Tom Wolf announced Tuesday he will veto Senate Bill 3, an abortion bill, if it should reach his desk.
Senate Bill 3 would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks. Currently, abortions are prohibited after 24 weeks, but there are exceptions.
Wolf said the proposed bill leaves no exceptions for victims of rape or incest and would criminalize doctors who would be working for the patient's best interest.
"Senate Bill 3 is a particularly vile assault on a woman's right to make her own medical decisions," Wolf said.
The bill passed through the Senate in February and is currently in second consideration in the House. A vote on the bill is expected to take place Tuesday.
