At least 1 killed in crash on Route 220 near Maryland state line

Bedford County authorities said at least one person died after a crash on Route 220 near the Maryland, Pennsylvania state line in Cumberland Township.

The Bedford County coroner said 34-year-old Justin Johnson of Winburne, Pa. died in the crash. According to the coroner, the cause of death was blunt force trauma and was ruled accidental.

State police said the crash happened Friday around 5:30 a.m. just south of Tiger Valley Road.

Lanes in both directions were closed for most of the morning into the afternoon.

State police said one commercial vehicle overturned. A witness at the scene sent 6 News photos and videos of what appears to be a tractor-trailer on its side off to the side of the road.

This is the second crash in that area in two days.

State police responded to a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning involving tractor-trailers.

No injuries were reported in that crash.
