Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General say a California man is behind bars after he allegedly traveled across the country to meet with a teenage girl in Blair County.
Investigators say in August, authorities received a "request for assistance" from Altoona police to investigate a child predator case.
According to the lengthy affidavit, Altoona police were investigating a complaint from the victim's mother who reported that the girl had been communicating with a 40-year-old man online, and that, in January, the man had reportedly broke into their home, through a second-floor window, to meet with the child.
Upon further investigation, authorities learned that the man had used a fake name, "Johny Smith," to chat with the teen.
Authorities say the victim told investigators that she and the man had "kissed and cuddled" in her room, and that their initial correspondence began through the online game Roblox.
Police say the conversations were later conducted through the online app Pinterest, and the victim told authorities that the man had reportedly sent her a $100 Amazon gift card.
Authorities were able to trace the man's IP address to a residence in Milpitas, California, where 41-year-old Don Robison reportedly resides.
Officials say Robison is listed as a registered sex offender under California Megan's Law.
Investigators later discovered the online chats between Robison and the victim, which detailed his plan to fly from California to Pennsylvania to meet with her.
Authorities also detailed dozens of sexually explicit messages between Robison and the victim, according to the complaint.
According to online court records, Robison was arraigned over the weekend on charges of felony unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, corruption of minors and criminal use of a communication device.
He is being housed at the Blair County Prison and his bail was denied.
