Police identify man killed in industrial accident
JENNER TWP, Pa. (WJAC) —
One person has died in an industrial accident in Jenner Township, according to Somerset County officials.
According to a 911 supervisor, the incident happened at AK Coal on Hoffman Church Road in Friedens just after 3 a.m.
The accident occurred when 35-year-old Nevin Hostetter from Central City, was operating a mobile bridge conveyor, police said.
Hostetter was pronounced dead on scene.
A Med-Star helicopter and multiple fire departments were called to the scene, according to the Somerset County Government Page.
State police are investigating. The cause of death hasn't been released due to a pending autopsy.
A spokesperson for AK Steel said in an email to 6 News:
We can confirm that early this morning, an AK Coal employee working at our North Fork Mine (in Friedens, PA) was injured and passed away. Authorities were notified and are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our employee's family and our employees. Beyond this, we can't comment further at this time.
