2 people in custody following police chase in Johnstown: dispatchers

Emergency dispatchers said two people are in police custody after a police chase through Johnstown Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, the chase began after 2 p.m. on Horner Street. Officers in the area were searching for a vehicle and spotted a car that matched a certain description.

Dispatchers did not say what initiated the chase, but that officers followed the suspects into Moxham. Authorities said that's when the suspects got out of the car and a foot pursuit began.

Authorities said two people were taken into custody, and they are searching for a third.

The chase caused a brief shelter in place for Greater Johnstown High School students. According to Superintendent Amy Arcurio, dismissal was delayed for eight minutes then continued on as normal.

Johnstown police is handling the investigation.
