A 16-month-old remains in the hospital after police said he was attacked by a dog Friday night in Clearfield County.

Sandy Township Police said the boy was attacked by an unprovoked pit bull at a home in the Country Place Trailer Court in Sabula.

The boy's grandmother, Sue DiStefano, said Henry Gagnon-Bradley was flown by helicopter for life-threatening injuries to his face and jaw. She said Gagnon-Bradley will need several reconstructive surgeries.

"He's my little man, always on the go and he's mister serious all the time," DiStefano said.

6 News spoke with the boy's parents over the phone Monday, who are still at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Gagnon-Bradley's parents said their son was bit by a family member's pit bull who was at their house visiting.

They said the dog was newly bought and listed as "not aggressive."

Police said the dog's owners also sustained some non-serious bite marks. The dog was euthanized and police are waiting for results of a rabies test.

The family is asking for prayers and have faith their son will pull through.

"Family is family and you stick together no matter what," DiStefano said. "I've always believed that and nothing is going to break this family up."

Donations to help the family with medical and travel expenses can be made at Timberland Federal Credit Union on Beaver Drive in DuBois.

Donations can also be made on Facebook.
