Johnstown's "Hawk" signs $13.6M with Browns

CLEVELAND -- Andrew Hawkins says it hasn't set in yet.

The Johnstown-native and Bishop McCort alum finalized a four-year, $13.6 million dollar with the Cleveland Browns Tuesday after the Cincinnati Bengals declined to match an offer to the restricted free agent.

"This sets me up for the future and allows me to take care of my family," Hawkins told 6 Sports on Tuesday night.

Hawkins will become the Browns top slot receive, replacing Davone Bess. Hawkins had just 12 catches for 199 yards last season, when he was sidelined by a high-ankle sprain. In 2012, he had 51 catches for 533 yards and four touchdowns.

"I've never had anyone court me," Hawkins said. "Coach [Ken] Salem [of Bishop McCort] and I would go to different colleges and then my agent and I would do the same with NFL teams."

Hawkins also thanked all of his supporters from Johnstown.

"Next time I'm in town, Coney Island Sundowners are on me!"
