6 Sports Hoops Hysteria: State High, Altoona split 6-AAAA championships

LORETTO -- State College and Altoona High School's split the District 6-AAAA basketball championships against each other Thursday night at Saint Francis University's DeGol Arena.

Kyla Irwin, a sophomore for State College, scored 24 points to lead the Lady Little Lions, including four straight in the final 30 seconds in a 60-57 win over Altoona. University of Hartford commit Darby Lee led all scorers with 25 points.

In the second game, Altoona used a monster effort from senior Manny Spann in a 44-31 win, snapping State College's run of three consecutive District 6-AAAA boys championships.
