Government Shutdown puts Penn State hockey opener in jeopardy

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--
By Ashley Chase
One of the side effects of the government shutdown is how it impacts the athletic programs at the military academies. Army, Navy, and Air Force among those cancelling games, and that could have a direct impact on Penn State men's hockey. The Nittany Lions are set to host Armyto open Pegula Ice Arena on Friday October 11th.

If the shutdown remains in place, the status of that game could be in question. Penn State is also scheduled to travel to Air Force for a 2-game series the following weekend. Penn State athletic communications say they'll provide updates as they become available.
