WestPAC Eliminates Rockwood Football Through 2015

WestPAC officials have decided to leave Rockwood High School's varsity football program off the conference schedule for the next two years, league secretary Craig Gindlesperger told 6 Sports on Wednesday.

Rockwood, which canceled its varsity season four days before its first game, did not have enough players to begin the 2013 season. The Rockets sudden cancellation forced their nine opponents to find teams to fill the empty spot on their schedule. Some teams, like Portage and Blacklick Valley, were unable to find a replacement game.

"We didn't want to be in the position where other teams had to find games," said Gindlesperger. "It was starting to hurt teams in their playoff chances."
