Somerset Co. house destroyed in fire

By: WJAC Web Staff

JENNER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Somerset County house was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.

Jennerstown Fire Department officials said crews were called to a home in the 6000 block of Somerset Pike at about 11 a.m. for the fire.

Officials said at least 10 fire companies were called to assist in battling the flames, which destroyed the home.

Officials said the rural location of the home made it a difficult fire to battle, and crews had to lay hose at least a quarter mile and rely on tanker shuttles to get water to the scene.

No one was in the home when the fire started and no injuries were reported, officials said. A state police fire marshal was called to investigate.
