Police investigating bar burglary in Cambria Co.

By: Marc Stempka

BARR TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police are investigating a burglary at a bar in the northern part of Cambria County, which is the latest break-in type of incident to happen in the area.

State police at Ebensburg said the burglary happened at the Blue Goose Inn on Route 271 in Barr Township, south of Nicktown, at about 5 a.m. Monday. The burglars pushed an air conditioner through a window and crawled inside the business.

Police said a small amount of change was taken from a cash register and a lottery machine was tampered with, but the burglars were not able to get inside. Surveillance video captured the people inside the bar.

Just north of the area, in Northern Cambria, police are continuing their investigation into an attempted burglary at Nic's Tobacco Outlet on Bigler Avenue.

Police said two men tried to break into the business sometime Friday night or early Monday morning. Surveillance video showed the men trying to pry open a door frame and dislodge an electrical meter, causing about $1,000 in damage.

Anyone with information in either case is asked to contact state police at 814-471-6500.
