Penn State board of trustees could see seven seats eliminated

By: WJAC Web Staff

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Changes to the board of trustees at Penn State University could lead to eliminated seats.

For several years the Penn State trustees said they have made a number of changes, but some state lawmakers believe they need more help with additional changes.

Last year two state senators introduced a smaller trustee board.

The public has lost trust, said Luzerne County Sen. John Tudichak.

The downsizing is being pushed through the state House for a second time since officials believe it can only benefit the board.

People would like to see the board of trustees downsized to only 23 people. Currently there are 30 members on the board.

Alumna will have more voice, said Centre County Sen. Jake Corman.
