Deadly heroin sweeping western Pennsylvania

By: WJAC Web Staff

PITTSBURGH -- The deadliest batch of heroin the Allegheny County medical examiners have seen in 25 years is becoming more pervasive.

The medical examiners are issuing a warning after more than a dozen of people overdosed in just one week.

Investigators said heroin branded Theraflu is responsible to the deaths.

Other drugs are believed to be marked with the words Theraflu, bud ice and income tax.

Heroin with these specific stamps and other counties across pa, said Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

Allegheny County police and the attorney generals office are working together to warn other communities about the drugs and to get them off the streets.
