Man files lawsuit because Steelers miss playoffs

By: WJAC Web Staff and The Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- An imprisoned Pittsburgh Steelers fan has sued the National Football League and wants a federal judge to delay the remainder of the playoffs so the Steelers can have another chance to qualify for them.

The Steelers were knocked out of the playoffs Dec. 29 when the San Diego Chargers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime in the final week of the NFL regular season.

The game went to overtime when Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop missed a last-second field goal try that would have won the game. The NFL has acknowledged San Diego should have been penalized on the play, meaning Succop should have gotten another chance to try to make the field goal.

Mercer County inmate Daniel Spuck said in his hand-written lawsuit the playoffs should be delayed until Succop can try the kick again, or until the Steelers play a neutral-site game against San Diego for a playoff spot.

The NFL hasnt commented on the lawsuit.

Spuck is also seeking $25,000 in damages. He's in prison for murder.
