FALLS CREEK, Pa. -- A Jefferson County woman has been arrested for allegedly breaking into several buildings, including a church, and also stealing a vehicle, police said.
State police at DuBois arrested Brianna Boboige, 19, of Falls Creek, on Sunday in the alleged break-ins, charging her with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and other charges.
Police said the break-ins happened between 4 and 5 a.m. Friday throughout Falls Creek and Washington Township.
Police said Boboige first tried to break into a home owned by Joseph Alvetro, 46, in Falls Creek, but was unsuccessful. Boboige then broke into a garage owned by William Briggs, 62, of Falls Creek and stole a 2006 Chevrolet truck.
Police said Boboige drove the truck to the Smithtown Community Church in Washington Township, where she got it stuck. Boboige then broke into the church by smashing through a glass front door.
Boboige damaged several items inside the church, before leaving and breaking into another home down the street, owned by Donald Liedl, 56, police said. When Boboige was discovered by Liedl and his son inside the house, she ran off into woods behind the home.
Boboige then broke into a house owned by Marian Hickman, 83. Hickman found Boboige in her bathroom, and took Boboige out of the house.
It was not immediately clear how police were able to track down and arrest Boboige.
6 News reporter Lauren Hensley talked with the Smithtown Community Church Pastor Harold Hills on Saturday. Hills said Boboige went through three offices, including his and a secretarys.
Hills said this was the second time the church was burglarized, and couldnt understand why anyone would target a church.
As one of my parishioners put it, we feel like this whole church has been defiled by this action for whatever reason the person had, Hills said.
Court records showed Boboige was put in the Jefferson County Jail on $60,000 bond.
