ALTOONA, Pa. -- Three Blair County men were arrested for allegedly being involved for various drug activities, including a man who tried to steal money from police informants during an undercover drug buy, investigators said.

Police said undercover officers tried to buy 100 bags of heroin from Larry Thomas, 39, of Duncansville, giving him $600 for the transaction. Police said Thomas left the buy with Johnathan Freet, 39, of Altoona, but didnt return with the drugs.

Police said officers with the Blair County Drug Task Force and Allegheny Township police stopped the vehicle the two men were in and arrested Thomas for taking the money. Police also arrested Freet, who had marijuana and suboxone in his possession.

During an interview with Freet, police said they were able to track down the location where Freet bought the marijuana, police said.

Officers learned Freet bought the drugs from David McKnight, 29, of Antis Township, and executed a search warrant on McKnights home along Sabbath Rest Road, police said.

Investigators found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, scales and a sawed-off shotgun at McKnights home, police said.

Thomas was arraigned and was charged with theft and drug possession and delivery charges for the attempted heroin buy, and other drug charges, police said.

Freet was charged with marijuana possession and other drug charges, police said.

McKnight was arrested and faces several charges including drug delivery and possession, weapons charges and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

McKnight and Thomas were placed in the Blair County prison, online court records showed. McKnight was in on $20,000 bond and Thomas was in on $15,000 bond.

Police said the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, Allegheny Township police, Altoona police and the Blair County Drug Task Force were involved in making the arrests.
