Firefighters train for extreme cold

EBENSBURG, Pa. - With this deep freeze, it's not just you that needs to stay safe, but also the ones who are out responding to emergencies during this weather situation.

Police, firefighters and EMS personnel are used to being out in the cold, but not typically temperatures this cold.

Monday night, emergency responders held a training and preparation session.  They took a second look at gear and equipment.  They said the key to their safety is dressing in layers, but even then, staying warm is difficult.

A thermal imaging camera used by firefighters showed that in less than one minute, a person with full firefighter gear dropped to just 4-degrees on the outside.
