Spelling of word 'smile' leads to family fight

JUNIATA TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police said an argument over the spelling of "smile" led to a fight between a family in Bedford County.

State police at Bedford said Jennifer Corley, 40, and Stanley Corley, 54, both of Manns Choice, got into the argument over the spelling late Friday night at their home on Allegheny Road in Juniata Township.

The argument escalated to the point where Jennifer hit Stanley in the face, police said.

A 17-year-old boy and his brother then came into the room where the two were fighting and tried to break Jennifer and Stanley apart, police said. Stanley then got into a fight with the 17-year-old, leading to Stanley punching him in the face.

When Stanley and Jennifer were eventually separated, the two continued to argue, at which point Stanley punched Jennifer in the mouth, police said.

Stanley was arrested for simple assault was placed in the Bedford County Jail on $25,000 bail, police said. Jennifer was arrested for harassment.
