Students send mural to Costa Rica

By: WJAC Web Staff

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Juniata Gap Elementary School students put their artistic skills toward a good cause as part of the annual Day of Arts event.

Students made a mural during the hands-on art workshop.

The outreach program is designed to teach kids about the importance of art during their education.

Organizers said kids are able to break down barriers with different forms of art genres.

"Art just, it just transcends any sort of mental capacity, language barriers," said muralist Pam Etters. "They can all be broken through art, its just incredibly powerful."

The mural will be transported to a school in Costa Rica.

Last year students designed a mural reflecting the Hurricane Sandy disaster.
