Gowns and blood donated to the Lifesaver Ball

By: WJAC Web Staff

RICHLAND, Pa. -- January is National Blood Donor month and Saturday the Red Cross, in partnership with the WYCA of Greater Johnstown and the Cinderella Project held the annual Lifesaver Ball at the Richland Fire Hall.

People donated used formal gowns to the Cinderella Project or donated blood during the event.

This year almost 100 people donated blood and more than 100 dresses were received.

Organizers said no matter how big the donations, it always helps.

"This is the second year that we've done the collection here and we'd like to continue to do that, I think it's a great connection to have," said Sherri Rae, volunteer for Cinderella Project.

Rae said its nice to have people in the Richland area to bring their dresses; we are so appreciative of everything everyone brought.

If you would still like to donate a gown you can contact the YWCA to set up a time.
