Man pleads guilty in Northern Cambria murder

By: WJAC Web Staff

EBENSBURG, Pa. -- A man pleaded guilty Friday in connection with the 2010 murder of an elderly Cambria County man, the district attorneys office said.

The Cambria County District Attorneys office said Sherman Lynn Holes, 43, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the death of Arthur Henry, 79.

Prosecutors said Holes beat Henry with a two-by-four on June 30, 2010. Investigators were able to link DNA found on the board used in the attack with Holes and Henry.

Police said Henry died in a hospital three days after the attack from traumatic brain injuries.

The investigation of Henry's death lasted more than two years until police were able to put together enough evidence to link Holes to the beating. Holes was arrested and charged in August 2012.

Holes sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 16.
