STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A driver fleeing the scene of a crash was killed when he struck a school van in Somerset County, police said.

State police at Somerset said Dean Blough, 48, of Berlin was killed in the crash on Lambertsville Road in Stonycreek Township at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Blough was involved in a crash 10 minutes earlier, where he hit another vehicle on Stutzmantown Road.

Police said while Blough was driving on Lambertsville Road, away from the Stutzmantown Road crash, he struck a van being driven by Lynn Frazier of Central City. The crash caused Blough to lose control and flip his car several times before it landed in a nearby field.

Blough and his passenger, Georgiann Ruschak, 49, of Beallsville, Ohio, were ejected from the vehicle, police said. Blough died at the scene and Ruschak was flown to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Frazier was not believed to be injured, police said.

Police said speed appeared to be a factor in the fatal crash. A reconstruction team was brought in and the police investigation was ongoing on Friday.
