DuBois gives school new idea to keep officers in schools

DuBois, Pa. A new contract put on the table by the city of DuBois could change the fate of the school resource officer program set to end in December.

The president of the school board told our reporter Deven Clarke he received the proposal Friday.

Although the details about the contract are unknown the main detail would be looking at the price.

Members of the school board recently decided to replace the school resource officers with retired officers.

The decision upset some parents, students and teachers who say the city officers provide a blanket of safety that the retired officers would not be able to do.

A press release by the city stated that under this new contract an additional officer will be added to the elementary school.

It also states the new contract will save tax payers $30,000.
