Suspect in PSU trail knife attack had alibi

By Gary Sinderson

CENTRE CO., Pa. Court documents show a leading suspect in the knife attack of a woman on a Penn State jogging trail was nowhere near State College at the time.

It was last December when a woman, a graduate student at Penn State had her throat cut while jogging on a wooded trail.  She recovered after receiving about 15 stitches to close the neck wound.

The victim said she was suddenly approached from behind and didnt see the attacker.

New information in Centre County court documents on Friday said one of the leading suspects in the case has been ruled out.

Prior documents said the victim suspected it was former family member who was behind the attack.

That new court filing, said state police have verified the man named as a suspect was in Wisconsin on the day of the attack.

As for new leads in the case, police only said their investigation is continuing.
