Soldiers return after year in Afghanistan

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. Approximately 80 Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers were welcomed home on Wednesday.

The soldiers, part of the 1-104th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion returned home to the Johnstown-Cambria County airport, to the tearful and happy hugs of families awaiting their arrivals.

The plane carrying the service members arrived from Fort Hood, Texas, just before 5 p.m.  Families gathered, waved flags and held up signs of support as they soldiers arrived.

The Guard unit was gone for one year.

A spokesman from the Guard said a few more groups of soldiers from the 104th will be returning over the next several weeks.
