I-80 reopens after tractor-trailer crash

Miles of backups were reported in Clearfield area

By Marc Stempka

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- An overturned tractor-trailer caused significant backups on a busy interstate in Clearfield County Friday.

The tractor-trailer overturned at about 10:15 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 between mile markers 120 and 121, officials said.

The right lane of the eastbound roadway was blocked for nearly four hours, causing significant delays in the area of exit 120 (Clearfield/Shawville) that was just before the accident scene.

PennDOT officials said as of 2 p.m. the the scene was cleared and traffic was flowing normally again on I-80.

State police at Clearfield investigated the crash. Troopers reported Marin Michonov, 60, of Skokie, Ill., was driving the tractor-trailer.

Police said Michonov suffered moderate injuries in the accident, but refused medical treatment.

The cause of the accident was not clear, Troopers said.
