Man enters woman's home with her still inside

By: Jacklyn Kovac

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. -- Summerhill Township police are asking neighbors to be on alert after a man entered a woman's home while she was still inside.

Mary, who did not want to provide her full name, says her daughter had just left their home Friday afternoon when she decided to take a shower, but minutes later she heard the doorbell ringing rapidly.

"The doorbell kept ringing. He must have rang it at least 10 times and I thought, boy there's something wrong there," said Mary.

A man was inside her home in the middle of the day. She says her dog's reaction is what made her realize what was happening.

"He ran underneath the bed and I yelled 'What's going on?' and when I got my robe back on, I knew, I knew somebody was in this place," said Mary.

The man left the house shortly after she yelled. She says he ran outside and jumped into a car waiting in her driveway.

"You really have to watch everything around you. Often I see cars up in here going slow and I do watch," Mary said. "The one day I don't, that guy got in. I didn't even hear the door open, but I scared him and he scared me."

Mary says she is very lucky and her dog is her hero.

"I have a feeling he knew something was wrong. I'm not sure, I don't know, you remember little things after the incident," said Mary.
