Straight Talk Parenting series continues in State College

By: Lauren Hensley

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-- The Straight Talk Parenting Series is designed to encourage positive youth development and decisions.  The program continued in Centre County Tuesday night.

Child psychologist Dr. Peter Montminy spoke with attendants about mindfulness and practical parenting tips on how to mindfully manage your time, stress, and kids today. 6News caught up with the speaker to learn more about what mindfulness is.

To be consciously aware of what is happening around you and within you and by doing so, the ability to respond to something than just reacting to something.  So we are really going to practice ways that you can do that, said Montminy.

The Straight Talk Task Force is made up of representatives from the Jana Marie Foundation, Youth Services Bureau, Communities that Care Partnership, and State College Area School District administration, faculty, and staff.
