MANASSAS, Va. -- A man wanted by police in Cambria County for on suspicion of shooting and killing another man last month has been captured in northern Virginia, authorities said.

Prince William County police officials said Earl Patrick Mitchell Jr., 20, was captured just after 8 p.m. Thursday after a manhunt spanning several hours.

Mitchell is accused of killing Jareek Adams and wounding another man in a shooting at the Oakhurst Homes, in Johnstown, on Jan. 25

Police said Mitchell was spotted in Manassas, Va., in an attempted traffic stop.

After a pursuit in the area of the Prince William Parkway, police said Mitchell ran from them.

Several hours later, Mitchell was caught by police in a wooded area near Lake Jackson.

Schools in that area were notified of the situation, police said. Several K-9 units and a police helicopter were called in to assist with the search.

Police in Manassas say they do plan to file additional charges against Mitchell, details on those charges have not been released.

Manassas is approximately 45 minutes southwest of Washington, D.C.
