22 burglaries under investigation in State College

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Twelve homes were burglarized within the last few days in State College, which brings the total to 22.

"Whether the doors were locked or unlocked doesn't really matter, they were forcibly entering," said Lt. Chris Fishel from State College.

Police said electronics were taken; half of the apartments in the building along the 300 block of Locust Lanes have had their doors recently been repaired.

The other buildings that were broken into were along the 200 block of South Burrowes Street and the 300 block of West Nittany Avenue, all just minutes from each other and police believe the homes were targeted for a reason.

Police said delivery drivers and maintenance employees found the doors smashed in and wide open.

Our detectives have obtained forensics evidence and will be evaluated.

Police said they believe some people in the downtown area may have actually gotten a visit from the suspects while they were scooping out the neighborhood to see which homes are empty.

Fishel said if residents do have somebody knock on the door they act like its the wrong address.

If that happened to you, police want you to call them with information.

Police said the numbers could go up when students return to town and discover they are victims, too.
