Fatal Centre Co. crash victims identified

By: Marc Stempka

POTTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Centre County Coroners Office has identified the two people killed in a head-on crash Tuesday.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said Wednesday that Roger Kennedy Jr., 25, of Lewistown, and Terry Bitner, 50, of Belleville, were killed in the crash.

Sayers said Kennedy tried to pass another vehicle when he collided with Bitners vehicle heading in the opposite direction.

The crash happened at about 7 a.m. on Route 144 (Old Fort Road) near Tucker Road in Potter Township, state police at Rockview said.

Police reported heavy fog in that area at the time of the crash and that Kennedy was attempting to pass the other vehicle in a passing zone.

Sayers said both drivers died at the scene and autopsies were pending.
